They are incompetent and does office politics.
These managers lick directors ass clean 🧽 everyday

If you are in your company and if you get resume of amazon SDM

Simply reject! That’s what I am going to do in my next gig.

Rejecting amazon SDMs in the screening phase itself.

Very high ego and no emotional quotient at all.

Manager needs to have servant attitude where he/she shepherd their team work in their best interest but amazon SDMs treat them as like king and direct report as servants

So, please blind community. If you want to have a healthy team dynamics. Don’t let Amazon SDMs ruin your teams

And other suggestion, any Amazonian with 3+ years of gig at amazon. They will make up as shitty teammate. Will snub you when you need help but will ping you and expect quick response when they need help. They will make you feel shitty in front of others by shaming you in public chat in front of manager. So avoid long hauler amazonians.

I had a short stint as SDM and I hate how pathetic the work culture is here. Director force manager to curve and manager ensures they always have easy pip target.

L6 and L5s keep an eye open for struggling engineers and let them fail instead of supporting them. They make sure they keep on pressing their weakness in group chat to a point that it affects the person who is learning to operate in amazon with mental stigma that they aren’t good enough. This strategy is like very detrimental for someone’s career growth.
A person works well when they are motivated and embraced on their failure. Here senior engineers will remind how bad they are for doing mistakes on stuff they have never seen. So this keeps on getting worse to a point when it’s very easy for SDM to pip because senior engineers have already painted a target.

Junior engineers who survive are the ones who got good mentorship at amazon which is rare
