I recently interviewed at FB, got rejected at the product sense video round and got the below feedback from the recruiter. Can anybody help with what it means?

‘Generally we find that it can be more challenging to fill in the gaps in product sense without being exposed to different types of problems/a different environment to your current one. ‘

Thanks.

The interviewer felt your background is limited.

As much as you think interviews are just about the case question, they still judge you by your work experience whether it’s fair or not

Thanks, but how would they know that? From my responses? Or does each interviewer look at the resume independently to make a decision?

They usually have your resume and LinkedIn on file. People also unconsciously tie your answers to your experience for irrational reasons I feel

Without knowing what the question was, the feedback sounds like you didn’t cover breadth in the problem. Every problem has multiple paths you can tackle and you should call them out before digging deeper, making conscious decisions of eliminating possibilities. You may have dug deep in your answers but didn’t go broad.
The recruiter may have attributed the reason as being your background. This may or may not have a correct assumption. Remember, recruiters review someone else’s notes and may make incorrect assumptions; interviewers may look at your responses or not give you the right cues and make incorrect assumptions.
