Does anyone have any stories to share or advice for someone considering the switch from public accounting to a fund accounting role?
2 yoe in NYC. No specific company, just not sure if it's what I really want to do for my career or just because I could make more money and work less hours at a fund if I switched now
Perhaps do a little bit more research on the job; find some reputable companies then tagged them here to get some insight from the current employees
With big 4 exp, it’s pretty easy to target fund accounting or operations role at top PE shop, and you will see a pretty sizable jump from big 4 salary. But the downsize is fund accounting does not have a solid long term trajectory. It’s perfectly fine to do fund accounting for a couple of years. If you want long term growth, I’d say go find a legit business operations / corporate finance / consulting role where you get to develop more rounded business skills.
With big 4 experience, do you refer to audit roles only, or also include tax roles?
Do you have a company in mind you would like to go to or anywhere works for you? Also what's your yoe & location?
