I HATE American banks. A family member cashed a few old checks that I forgot about (no big deal at all) but my checking went into negative and I was charged like 7 x $36 overdraft fees with some automatic payments. Im doing fine,, but imagine if poor people don't have money in their account and then get charged these overdraft fees - its unethical and immoral. I'm going to close my accounts (US Bank and Wells Fargo) out of principle. I'm looking into Chime but wondering what other banks or credit unions are out there? TC 250 Tl:dr - looking for advise on good online bank or credit union.
Im about switch from BofA to Ally
My savings are Ally. They're good, just a chill online bank, not much innovation.
Been an Ally Bank customer since 2018 and I absolutely love them
Key point credit union
Come to Schwab lol. Free ATM fees worldwide. Exchange currency at spot rate using foreign ATMs with $0 fees (all reimbursed) $0 brokerage / trading fees. Actual client service unlike the trash RH provides
Citibank did this to me for YEARS when I was poor & wasn't making much money. They *conveniently* forgot to mention that the account minimum was $10k a month to avoid the monthly fee, and then continued to charge me the overdraft fees when my account was negative. I cried so many times
Pieces of garbage. What did you end up doing?
I moved my money to Ally Bank. It has been the best experience ever!
Ally or Schwab, I personally use TD Bank because I live in the North E and their checking account is pretty good
Try Discover. Their service is best
I vouch for Ally bank. The checking account service of Robinhood is limited but sufficient for most needs.
Go with Ally.
I agree with everything you said, for this reason I can recommend Patelco CU but I also heard good things about Chime or N26
