I’d like to learn more about SambaNova:
1. How much potential do you see for this company and why?
2. If you work there, what is it like?
3. Can someone give insight about the interview process?
4. What are things to be wary of?
1. Pretty good. The product is solid. Meritocracy everywhere. No bullshit within Engineering org. Comparatively low key compared to the funding. Which means the value generated is solid, not hyped.
2. It's a start-up, so you get to wear different hats. As a side effect, a bit disorganized. If you hate the bureaucracy of big company, you may like sambanova.
3. Widely varies between teams. Better ask the recruiter.
4. While they have good potential, the IPO valuation they claim may be exaggerated. Hard to tell because there's no way to predict future reliably. Joining a start-up comes with significant risk. You have to take it.
Thanks for taking the time to answer! From your answers, it sounds like you work there. What convinced you the risk was worth it? And if you don’t work there, what was it about the company that made the risk not worth it?
Wasn't happy with my last job. Lately resolved my immigration issues, and for the next year or so can afford to take the risk. So thought what the hell!
Also got rejected from every other company I tried. So if I wanted to switch, it was the only option. So far so good.
