Hi folks,
I recently got a verbal offer from OCI. I come from a firmware background ( C and assembly). New team uses java. I am guessing I need to learn and spend some time in understanding the stack and get familiar with it. I wanted to understand how flexible/supportive teams are in general? How is wlb? Any feedback on management? Etc.
Any help is appreciated?
Thanks

My manager was a director and was running a high-performing team where ICs mostly worked a 40-hour work week (excluding on-call weeks of course). He didn’t tolerate slackers or coasters but instead put systems, policies and culture in place to make sure that during work hours, all the ICs were as productive as they could be. He was very responsive in unblocking us ICs and nudging us to automate the hell out of everything that were repetitive tasks.
But that’s the culture he set for the team and to my knowledge, hasn’t been replicated elsewhere in OCI. So, again, the answers to your question depends on your new team’s leadership.
i done made that switch a while back. it was not as easy as ppl were expecting. recommend dedicated Java course instead of fumbling around like I did
