I have an upcoming on site for a Google L7 Sr Manager position. When I initially accepted the interview, the format was described as expected (system design + behavioral).
I am currently an L7 at Amazon so this didn’t concern me.
A week later the recruiter tells me the HM would like to see some coding. To be honest this sounds good (to be able to be more hands on) but I haven’t written production code in a decade and I’m not going to LeetCode myself into madness at my age.
Is this normal? Can’t tell if it would be an awesome opportunity or I should run for the hills.
YOE: 20 TC: $585k
Update 1: Thanks all for the feedback and support. I’ll report back on what they ask.

L7 loop happened. No coding (2 system).
Seems like the feedback was positive though maybe not enough for L7.
However, original HM lost the role they were hiring for so now I’m being matched.
The waiting continues.
Good Luck!
