Recruiter from stripe cleared first round and is moving me to virtual onsite. I read some post here and see that Strips RSU are more like cash with no upside since the units get granted on vesting and not on joining. Not sure if this is accurate. Can someone please confirm? I don’t want to put my time interviewing if that’s the policy.

So instead of seeing 4 years of upside (locking in the number of rsu's youll vest regardless of how the valuation grows), you only lock in 1 year, and at the end of the year you lock in the count of rsu's for the next year. Stock value goes up your first year = at the same $ Val you get less rsus the 2nd year. Stock value goes down your first year = you still get the same $ Val of stock, so you get more count of rsu's year 2.
If you think the stock will only go up you will have upside a year at a time, but won't lock in your initial 4 years of stock like you do with the traditional 4 year stock package most places offer (and if the stock goes down you don't miss out as much; with perf you can get more with refreshes year 2+, but you're gauranteed the base AVG amount)
