Is 190k tc, for a ~15 yr exp, sr.staff, qcom, san diego. I have a house and (just)working spouse(not in qc) and kid. Is it a good idea to look for jobs for better salary? Where Should I move to Austin or bay area for long term settlement. Scope of career growth is limited. As people up in hierarchy(principal and above) are not moving out(since 10+yrs). Most of execution is being moved to low cost centers. I see similar trend in other companies(nvda etc) also. What is best approach for career growth? Currently leading few engrs, but not a manager. Do other companies give lead opportunities for people from outside? Should I wait till I get manager or principal promotion or just move out right away?
EE or CS. Edit: nvm
That’s below market TC for Sr. Staff in QC San Diego. But in the current environment, you shouldn’t expect much growth. If you’re chasing a bigger paycheck, go elsewhere. But it’s hard to beat San Diego as a place to live.
Don't go, next layoff coming soon. You never know who will be impacted
Don’t leave if you can get severance. Volunteer for lay-off if possible
