Wait for GC (8-10mo) or interview and switch (3-4 mo)?

I485 and i140 filed concurrently about 2 months ago. I140 already got approved. Waiting for i485.

For some reason starting to get lots of recruiters emailing me the last 2 weeks. When would I start interviewing? Should I wait until I get my GC?
Is it dumb to switch companies before i485 comes through?

Just wait to get your GC since you've waited this long. You'd get more opportunities...

Yeah it is fine. I'm RoW for GC so I took that into consideration. Was a great opportunity I could not pass up; the H1-B transfer was of more concern πŸ₯Ί

    If i485 takes
More than 6 months then u can change and retain 485

  • It's worth waiting for i485, unless you want to start over and wait for 1.5 year at new company then move on.
6months after you join they start the process and with the paper work and all they take atleast 6-8 months, so if you are ok waiting again for some tc increase go for it.
But my personal choice would be to wait for few months rather than starting over!

Ok few things then-since 140 is approved than you should expect quicker processing in general.. to be on safe side, its still best to wait out till you get gc .. you are at last leg of process.. the risks you have is i dont know how long 140 is processed and sounds like its recent since its concurrent filing, your employer can revoke 140 if they want to if 140 is less than 6 months .. since its employer document.. (check with any attorney on specifics of this one)
The other complication which can arise is if your new job is not closely linked to your current 140 , you may run into some questions from immigration if not now , then during naturalization process (if you intend to naturalize in future) around nature of movement during this time.. its just too much risk for someone at last step.. you should receive your gc in next few months ( guessing you are done with biometrics and i-693)

How much time remaining on your H1B max out? Whether new company is willing to file GC application?
