Hello,
TLDR - stay at AMZN or go to FB/Meta when TC would go up in year one, then down in year 2, but then higher again in year 3 when my AMZN cliff comes up.

I am an L6 TPM at Amazon in the Alexa org.
I have an offer from Meta/FB for an E5 TPM role with Meta in Reality Labs.
I am in a smaller market for Amazon. FB position would be full time remote (which I want).
Current TC for Amazon is around 300k (155 base and 42 shares per year vesting over 2022 and 2023) = 298(give or take based on current stock value) each of the next two years.
Meta offer is not final, but recruiter said with where I am living remote, best her can do is:
185 base
15% bonus
= 213 cash annually
297 in stock (roughly 75k per year at without growth)
40-45 signing bonus
This would put me at 330ish for year one, but then 288 the following years (assuming flat stock and no refreshers).
I believe my AMZN Total Comp Target is near or under 250.
I like my immediate team, but don't love working with some of the sister teams/skip level leadership I work with (which is most of my job as a TPM).
Further, FB/Meta seems like it would be easier to grow beyond immediate role as a TPM simply because remote is allowed (again I am at a smaller site for AMZN) and the centralized TPM org seems like it is a cleaner path beyond Sr. TPM when you aren't from a coding background. Also, trying to understand the cultural differences between AMZN and FB/Meta. My WLB is honestly not too bad right now (based on horror stories I hear for AMZN).
Current TC = 300k

Can you negotiate with Fb on the offer? This seems low

  • Target comp of 250 to roughly target comp of 290 is not a great bump imo. Move only if get a bigger offer or you absolutely hate your current role!

      OP
This is what I am debating, but also being at a smaller org/location in AMZN, Vs FB allowing 100% remote, it opens more options for me long term without having to move (which I don't want to do) as AMZN is still telling people they cannot do 100% remote (possible on a case by case basis). So, it is somewhat about the 100% remote for me simply because I am not in one of the major sites.

    • Even if your opportunities are low at this point at Amazon, L6 TPM is a good role to be in. Having worked at both the places, I know for sure L6 TPMs are well respected and have higher growth potential to L7 TPM or L6 SDM.

There is a chance... I would say maybe 1-2 years out. I recently pushed back on a some work which was a "death march" (and work another team should have been owning) IMHO, so that may have hurt my medium term chances of moving to L7. My immediate team is somewhat new/immature, so only one L7. I know he would support me, but he hasn't been in the L7 role long enough to play the politics to get TPMs promoted to L7 (based on my read of the situation).

SW... Prefer not to list location simply because it is a small(ish) AMZN location so becomes easy to narrow down the list of who it could be.

Current L6 SW TPM offer are close to 420 for Bay Area. If you will take remote from FB and move to LCOL area then 290k would be great.
