Meta Offer and Counter from Msft

Apr 6 32 Comments

I have an offer I've signed from Meta, and now Microsoft is trying to counter.

Meta TC 215
Microsoft TC Counter 195 estimate year 1, 225 estimate next year

They did some weird one time cash payment juju that's why it's like that

Microsofts counter is competitive.

Any harm in going back to meta for counter and saying Microsoft is trying to counter after I've already signed?

    • Compared to FANG it is seen as shit. I work in Azure as L63 and I was seen like shit because recruiters already know I come from peanut world. Very tough to negotiate without competing offers

Not really true. I think you should respect MS a little tbh. Esp if you work in Azure/Teams and have something good to say in your resume, you shouldn’t be taking those recruiters seriously. Also none in FAANG really care what you make at present and your offer if you get one from them will not be based on what you make now. Your interview perf and level is what matters.

  • A big concern is the potential to become overpaid relative to peers. Feel like that puts a target on my head.

I would negotiate for E4 at Meta (as 60 at MSFT) and if not successful think about the career growth opportunity at Meta they scale from E3 to E4 pretty quickly and we all know MSFT promotions are slow.

If you think you can crack Meta once again in a year or so and enjoy your current job I would stay and get into Meta as E4. 20k diff for job change is not worth it

Never accept a counter from your current employer. They should have taken care of you while you’re there, not while you’re walking out the door.

Might as well. Considering taking counter is almost always dangerous. Try to get some more out of Facebook, maybe ask them to throw a bit of signing bonus in
