Guys help me choose. I already work at amazon, I got promoted 2 quarters ago, and comparing my new PCS with offer from Microsoft. I love the fact that whole of amazon is Java but I’m constantly on the look out for PIP, and also the bad WLB. On the other hand, Microsoft is great but they use mostly c/C++/C#. I know there are trade offs and want your genuine input blinders.

  • That's like choosing a fried chicken burger and chocolate dessert. Both are different. Both have pros and cons. Choose what works for you. Good thing you already know the team at Amazon, if it's toxic, switch else stay.

What's amazon sign on? That's the talk of the town these days and you miss it in your TC?

That’s a gray area as far as I know. It seems like you can come back without an interview even after 6 months as long as within a year and the manager you’re coming back to gets a VP approval. But hardly any manager ever does that.

I would suggest either keep looking elsewhere or switch teams at Amazon. Microsoft might not be the right move given the non significant bump

If this is your first offer and you can keep interviewing then I suggest do so. 3 YOE L5 at Amazon can easily get much more than what Microsoft is offering.
