Question: Would I still have a chance of getting hired as a SETI at Google if my resume shows no experience in testing or developing internal tools? More background; I recently interviewed for a SWE position for Google. I got really close, made it to the HC, but even though I had no “No Hire” recommendations (according to the recruiter) I still failed to pass the HC. The recruiter is strongly encouraging me to try again in a year. I’ve read online that it’s possible to be hired as a SETI and then transfer over to SWE. It’s apparently an easier interview and that seems like it would be a shorter process time wise than trying again for SWE in a year. It also appears compensation isn’t too different. My concern is that my resume is very much geared more towards traditional SWE roles. I don’t have specific testing or interns tools experience on there. Would that hurt my chances in interviewing for a SETI role?
As I understand seti-> sde will be a full loop like external hires

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
My understanding is that SETI has the same interview
If it had the same hiring bar it wouldn’t require so much work to transfer to SWE
Maybe? Other discussion on Blind suggest its easier. Even if it’s the same it’s another chance to interview without waiting a year.
