Hi... I have offer from oracle and qualtrics. TC is almost same in both companies and the bare difference does not matter at this point for me. I am curious about culture, benefits, and on call in these two companies and what has been your personal experience. This is for their Seattle office. What are some of the bad culture things you hated in Qualtrics and Oracle after moving? I am mostly looking details for overall culture of the company here and work life balance details. How bad is Qualtrics on-call? Did not find much details here. I have heard from some people that Oracle on-call is really bad... Worse than AWS on call at times but feel free to provide details and verify this info.
TC OR GTFO
I have zero respect for Oracle. They bought sun and ruined everything they stood for. It is because of them that it's now legal to patent an API. That said, qualtrics really depends on the team. Most teams have a 1 week cadence. Some teams are in operational hell, but some are living a great life. At the end of the day, teams have some say in making their products better. Ideally it gets better every week. I can't compare to any different companies because this is my first full time gig.
TC or GTFO
I won’t help you if you say TC is the same. If you’re expecting help, be prepared to help others by sharing your TC and breakdown.
TC?
TC and what level?
Engineering Quality, Oracle is way better than Qualtrics. Qualtrics is also way more frugal than Oracle. A team event per quarter might just have a budget of 40-50$. The summer party just have a hot dog and Soda. Qualtrics oncall is lighter for non-office hours, but it is more frustrating. The dependencies are so bad and is in monolith, that you end up spending a lot of time figuring out whom to chase to get it fixed.
More or less true. However, there are free lunches, that Oracle doesn’t have. As for summer party, I agree was sad to see. On-call can be frustrating, but it is in your hands to improve it. Also, don’t forget that OCI operates as startup as well. Infra might be frustrating, on call might be hectic. They are also using open source things as everybody else.
3 days free lunch doesn’t count as free lunch. Also, no breakfast or dinner. It’s equivalent to subsidized lunch like others have.
On call will be team dependent, probably for qualtronics too, but for sure at OCI.
OCI no debate. Interviewed both two years back and OCI people seem to be decent amazon folks trying to improve their comp. Qualtric seems like immature people trying to prove we do great cool work. They seemed to not jnderstand how engineering systems work and probably had no idea how to build one.

Depends what are you looking for in your career at these companies. If TC and benefits, Q is probably better. If you want to learn how to design cloud infra, then Oracle. Also, TC or GTFO. :)
