Can someone please give me a referral to a HF for a Quant Developer role? I'm based in the UK so would be looking for London role . I'm coming from a tech background but i feel I'm massively under paid ... cos you know Cisco. I've machine learning expertise and a full stack developer but my main concentration is in python. is it advisable to start learning C++ too? I've an engineering background. i guess the mode of action should be leetcoding ? much appreciate some advice! background: top 10% from target uni in London.. currently pursuing a fully funded MSc in Machine Learning. tc - £40k
Try contacting recruiters from Selby Jennings, Hunter Bond. They specialize in HFT space.
Thanks for the tip!
I was interested if Hunter Bond legit firm? They always have too many job postings with pretty vague numbers
They usually look for devs who already have exposure with C++ in finance industry. My advice for you is to prepare for FANG. This should give you a bump in your salary.
Post this same thread in Tech section and see the replies.
I can refer you, dm me
Yea I don't have much confidence in people who use the word cos unironically. You didn't say much anything to qualifications and you want a referral?
You have an issue with me using the word 'cos'? I'll update my post too about the qualifications but I didn't put it in because it would give away my identity. Let me try to be generic.. Essentially top 10% first class hons in engineering from a top 5 uni (think London unis) and currently pursuing a fully funded MSc in Machine Learning from said university. Is that good enough for you?
No, your attitude is terrible. Get the chip off your shoulder. Top 10% in uni means nothing if you're working in industry. Again you haven't shown your qualifications
I can't refer unfortunately, but the companies you are listing are not hedge funds for the most part. There are some hedge funds which use Java. Most HFT shops use C++ and Python (automation and research). For quant dev you'll need some affinity to quantitative work (by education or by working as an algorithm developer or data scientist). For tech roles in C++ they will want you to demonstrate a high level of expertise as a senior (not gained in a one month crash course). In general I would recommend to connect with good recruiters in the space.
2/3 of the tagged ones are hedge funds lol
I've been told that 2s only/mostly deals with insurance risk and portfolio management in London. Not sure if the hedge fund that is part of 2s is also doing business in London.
