Question for people who like to ping people with just “Hi XXX”

One of my colleagues often slacked me “Hi John” and there was no more. If I don’t reply right away, she would ask the questions couple hours later or even on the second day.

For these people, what are you thinking? Are you trying to check if I am free to answer your questions? Why don’t you just ask the questions?
