Say Amazon covered $10,000 to relocate me to seattle. But i have to pay back a prorated amount if i leave within 2 years. Now say Google offers me a job 1 year into my Amazon career. Does paying back the prorated relocation expenses ($5,000) count as a relocation expense that I would have Google pay me for as part of my relocation plan? Or is this expense typically not covered by the new company?
So basically it doesn't matter what u negotiate what for. End of day cpany calculates cost of hiring u. Let's say Google says 15k relocation. U can use 5 of it to pay amz back. Let's say u don't like 15k. Tell them u want 20 cuz u have to pay 5 to amz
Good point, everything is negotiable
Just tell them the situation. They are really getting a deal. Amazon moved you for $10K and they get you here for only $5K. I have heard of companies paying out the owed-back part of the relocation. I'm sure there are a lot of variables but I've heard it happening and I have not heard of it being refused.
Thanks dude
FYI my Google lump sum relocation was $30.5K. Paying back Amazon should be the least of your problems.
