**Situation** Let’s say hypothetically, I have both google and Facebook offers coming up around the same time. **Questions** 1. When recruiters call indicating you have made past hiring committee and discuss compensation, don’t give range. Indicate that you are expecting strong offer from <rival company> OR 2. Should one just tell the company do your best?, and not bring up the upcoming offer from <rival company> ? 3. Once both Facebook and google give their offers, lets say Google’s offer is substantially smaller. At this point, should one give expectations to google and not share the Facebook offer? **TC and YOE** 170K TC, YOE - 10 years. Thank you.
Tell them you are interviewing with a competitor. If Google years you're also interviewing with FB and Amazon, they'll know how high they probably need to come in and vice versa. Then once you have the offers you can squeeze to get a bit more. But if they know who else you're getting an offer from, if they want you they'll come in with a strong offer out of the gate. If you really want to work for a specific company vs maximizing comp, this will maximize your offer.
Got it So let google know that one is expecting offer from Facebook Let Facebook know that one is expecting offer from google Now let them come up with their strongest offers Don’t provide a range or a number to them
Yeah, don't provide a range. They know what the other is likely to offer.
Got it So, post HC , if asked for comp - indicate that the company provide their best offer and that I am expecting a strong offer from rival company.
If you don't have the numbers, don't say strong offer. Mention you are engaged in a process and want to hear from them before making the final decision.
