I joined amazon 5 months back as L5 SWE. Base -140k sign on -35k, 25k for first two years (sign on bonus is distributed/prorated in every pay check) RSU- 28 stocks vested over 4 years -> this compensation is for BOSTON area. YOE-5 I am working remotely from Florida now due to covid. I got an offer from a start up which became IPO recently with SPAC. Role is 100% remote ( I could stay in Florida) and it’s a staff engineer role Base- 165 k bonus-10% yearly cash bonus RSU-100k equally vested over 3 years. thinking to negotiate base till 175 and RSUs till 190k vested over 3 years for the new offer? I feel amazon base is pretty less for Boston area as I need to relocate at some point! Is it good if I decide to leave Amazon and join the start up. Or is it too soon to leave amazon? Since it’s been just 5 months, will it be a very quick jump? To add up, gc process at amazon is not going really well it’s being handled by Fragomen and it’s very very slow. It would take at-least 2 years to get PERM certified stage with Fragomen guys. That’s one of my main concern, is it worth to give a shot at startup which became IPO recently which would start my gc after 3 months of join date but could do it quicker/better? #tech #startup #ipo
Quit amazon
Join startup if visa shit is taken care of.
Quit Amazon
28 stocks is a joke, definitely quit!
Get an offer from a stable company for your PERM
What startup? Am curious, I'm in the same boat with Amazon:)
This is really low-end L5 comp. Definitely get moving out of here.
Staff Engineer at 5 YOE. Interesting.
Quit Amazon always
