1 vs 5 Million - no lifestyle change
So after a while the schedule of a engineering job is boring. Same code base, same stand ups, same review meetings. Should I quit my job to become a realtor? I love everything about real estate and spend my days surfing through Zillow (spend more time here than on any other site!) What do folks look for in a good realtor? Also would you like to work with a newbie like me? #housing #realestate #realtor Blind Tax: 350K
I would try to do both before quitting.
Good idea!
You’re out of your mind. Do you know how competitive realty is? Making what you make now as a realtor requires stupid amounts of hustle and luck. And it will never be as consistent.
But what if I’m really good!
Don’t mean to smash your dreams, but yeah try to do what others are suggesting and be a realtor in your spare time
Lol
Don’t laugh at my passion. I could be your realtor one day. lol!
Love the positivity and humor. You’ve already won me over. I need a home in sf. Dm me
Lol, u need to take the exam first
Have you seen the show Selling Sunset? If those gals can crack it, I’m pretty sure I can too!
Yep. I am pretty sure you can do it. I also want to prepare for the exam. Because I don’t really want to pay for the agent fee. But I only can take the license after I got GC. I plan to do it part time.
Swe income is stable, sales are not. One month you make a sale, next month you don't. And you have to always be ready to jump in and work whenever client calls you. Source: ex sales person
Keep a large saving balance. You’ll need it since you won’t earn much In the first year. Most realtors don’t make it past the first year without a spouse financially supporting them. It’s a snake 🐍 business.
Small business broker here. Don’t quit your job to do it full time. Selling sunset is bs. You know how many houses you’ll have to sell to equate to 350k. Assuming average sales price is 300k, you’ll have to sell 100 houses a year to get to a 300k compensation. Realtors pay fee to brokers, marketing, realtor mls fee, license, insurance, self employment tax. I budget 1% of every 3% as my take home. And that’s assuming no kickbacks. Try it as a side hustle for about two years then reevaluate The real money is in selling commercial. But the splits on commission is higher. It’s on a tier basis but you start out as 50% broker and realtor keep 50%
Thanks this is super helpful.
yes do it. see you back in 6 months
Probably. Will look for another side hustle then!
Ok I call the top in real estate market
What does this mean?
When SWE wants to become realtor we have reached the top
