Heard about a verbal offer today

Apparently they want to do (in sgd)

500k TC year 1 comprised of
Approx 265k base
250 K signing

400K TC year 2 comprised of
265 k base
135k signing

100 RSU

apparently higher 1st year signing as they want to attract me to the region (.sg)

16yoe, work in IT security C level.

Is this decent? Concerned about massive drop in year 2 (and 5% effectively 5 shares) in year 2 would be a massive drop from year 1 and year 3 no signing bonus and (15 shares + 265k base) seems like an even worse deal (if my sums are right, would effectively be a 300k TC in year 3 - so effectively 'losing' 100k per year).

Please advise

    Are you sure the offer was communicated to you correctly? This is not standard. Usually the offer is designed to provide a consistent TC across the first four years. Never seen it drop off after the first year.

      Yes apparently they want it like that to make it appealing to come to the region but then y2 would fall back to “normal” levels

    So

    Real offer changed vs what was communicated verbally (as it was subject to approvals apparently)

    It’s no longer l7, it’s l6

    260k base + 200k signon y1 + 5 shares
    260 base + 100k singon y2 + 15 Shares
    260 base + 40 shares
    260 base + 40 shares

    All in SGD except RSU.

    C level security executive before my current role, I was an SVP with a major investment bank technology in London. Approx 16yoe. Have managed large teams and budgets and currently report into BoD

    Feels like a massive downgrade

    Salary seems to drop massively in all subsequent years and if share does well ok but if it doesn’t then I’m shafted

    And who knows how long it will take to climb back up to l7

    Had a look on LinkedIn at other l6 folks and don’t feel they’ve had similar types of roles in their careers before joining / entering the org at that level.

    Inclined to decline unless I’m making a lot of wrong assumptions here.

      Amazon l7 maps to l6 in FB/google/grab (grab pays less compared to the others).
      The TC (including Signon) its quite high and definitely in tune with L6 at fb/google.
      The TC definitely drops a lot in 3rd/4th year if stocks do not rise. Buts that's how Amazon is and depends more on your trust in the company.

      Also 100k Signon (200k even more so) in Singapore is unheard of. Glad the companies are getting competitive here wrt pay.
