Currently L4 at Google and looking to move to US asap. Are there any US companies that hire directly from India? (Preferably FAN)

I do know that I could do an internal transfer in Google but the adjusted base (plus the stock refresh for the year) is πŸ₯œ. Switching directly to some company sounds like a better option.

Nobody is hiring from India directly. Get in line.

  • Best option is to enter US with L1 in your current company. They will apply for H1 once you are here. Since L1 is for 5 years you get that many shots to get the H1. Whereas with any other company, even if they choose to hire you, what happens if your H1 is not picked? Will they wait a whole year for you?

  • May be you need to push your CTC a little more before you would get a consideration.

Very unlikely to work for other companies. They'd need to sponsor your H1 in March for a 30% chance that you might be able to work for them in Oct. No one would play with those odds.
Best bet is to move internally via L1, and then try to move to H1.
US immigration has been messed up for the last 10-15 years, so any conventional wisdom from earlier does not apply anymore πŸ˜…

Ah okay! London seems to be hiring quite a lot from India directly so I was wondering if there is a similar option for US.

Looks like I'll have to go the internal transfer route.

  • H1-B selection rates are terrible and the process is once a year. It’s way to much commitment for any large company to waste time interviewing and then go play the lottery with a <25% win rate and also wait god knows how long for you to show up versus hiring local.
