Hello everyone,
I’m currently working as a data analyst and been really wanting to go into product management for a long time. I’ve tried applying and networking for associate positions with no luck and even tried moving internally but my company only hires senior positions.
At this point I’m willing to invest the money to give myself a chance to at least get my foot in the door with a certification.
My question is, has anybody here ever found success switching into a pm role with the certification playing a big part in it? I’ve been looking at the product cert on Public School https://productschool.com/online/ but If you have some recommendations a cert you got from a different class or advice unrelated to the cert would love to know!

What you really need is an apprenticeship in product, but those are few and far between. This is the best advice I've found on getting into Product: "How To Get Into Product Management (And Thrive) ✨ | by Lenny Rachitsky | HackerNoon.com | Medium" https://medium.com/hackernoon/how-to-get-into-product-management-78c58bd9c8cf
Bottom line: their certificate won't get you your first product job. Building and launching your own product sets you apart and teaches you more.
I personally did a program, and didn’t learn much. However paying for the program does light a fire under your ass so you’re in the right mindset to network and put your name out there. I did end up getting a PM role after the program.
If you want to follow through, see if your current company will subsidize
