i mean, as a developer i’d prefer one standard format. its the same data that you have on your linkedin profile, so what’s the point of asking for the same data in a non-standard format?
i doubt people would keep their resume more updated than linkedin profile.

Most recruiters take your .DOC resume, put their letterhead on it and flip it out to asking clients. Less work for them. It’s a meat market out there and the first one in the relay race to the client usually wins.

My suggestion is to be prepared to play the recruiting game. Do keep Linked in updated as this is the engine they use to find you in the first place. When they connect, do provide them with the canon fodder they need to represent you.

That’s some shady stuff ... so all those hours spent typesetting in Latex is wasted. Fantastic.

I think for processing. They put a pile of resumes on their desks and together with their coworkers must laugh at randomly picked ones.
And probably not very comfortable to print your linkedin profile.
    I can’t think of a better reason

I just take a screenshot of my LinkedIn and send the png. They never ask again after that

I know right? Why can’t they just use it if it’s a pdf that they are looking for!

Resumes are usually 1 page long, so a LinkedIn can be useful to tell a more complete story about your professional achievements. That's how I use it anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
