Targeted 180 employees they didn’t like by using poor performance, culture fit and alleged lack of skills. Sounds like no standard severance but each person exit package handled differently because of liability. Looks like they expect to not hit numbers for second quarter in a row.
Whoa! Is this in US? Austin or SJ?
Global hit, all offices.
@OP: What is your opinion of your overlord Masayoshi Son? How was it before and after SoftBank acquired you?
Prior, just like any tech company, second tier compared to other SV companies, not horrible but nothing special. SoftBank dumped a lot of money in the company, massive hiring over the past 18 months to keep pace with SB demands on business growth and strategy. Arm’s downfall, being a British company that doesn’t move and execute fast enough and took RISC-V seriously, too late! Last to the table on all emerging technologies.
I hope they implement a more sensible hiring process and have good plans in place so that when opportunities arise all they have to do is execute and do it well. Sounds like your CTO has a lot of explaining to do
Is ARM going through any financial trouble?
Failed to meet numbers last quarter, sounds like they may not this quarter. Hiring freeze implemented a couple weeks ago and business units are pinching pennies, only necessary travel. Last acquisition went horrifically bad.
Thanks for the info! Hope things fall in place soon.
