Toxic Boss? Need concrete feedback

I received a call for a great opportunity with a company I admire. The BIG CAVEAT is the person I'd be reporting to. Former disgraced CFO from Brave Software, first name is Holli, last name begins with a "B". Word on the street is that she is awful, toxic, rude and often incompetent. Does anyone have any good feedback on her? Or should I just walk away now?

  • OP, I would say rumors aren’t always true, and they depend on the people they’ve worked with. She could be misunderstood, have good intention but have terrible EQ, or yes maybe she is truly a jackass. I would take the interviews as you would probably have a call with her at some point. Observe her communication style and articulation to make your own impression! On a second note, when is Brave opening up business roles!? I’m a huge follower and Brave is a great company I admire!

  • She only hangs around for a couple of years judging by linked in. Figure out how long she’s been there , chances are she’ll jet soon

    I don't know how to tell if the rumors are true, but I know for sure a toxic manager is one of the worst work situations you can be in. Even toxic peers can be enough to cause serious trauma. When it's the very person who should be protecting you, there are very few places you can go for help.

  • It may not be true but it’s more likely true. In fact if the rumor spreads that way, I’d stay away from it. It’s not worth taking a risk.
