Hi folks - I have my jam session scheduled with Uber. Appreciate tips on preparing for it and what should I expect during this round?

If you clear the product jam, it's essentially an offer. I don't think you get the prompt beforehand so it's just a standard pm problem solving session

My recruiter sent mine over a week+ before. And it was at the start of the process. The question was less standard and more specific to the role and the space they were interviewing for, almost as if they were looking for ideas…

Yes got mine a week beforehand as well. Super specific to Uber. I feel I did great but recruiter ghosted after that round. Wouldn’t have felt that it was a waste of time if they bothered to at least get back

Spend a good amount of effort in laying the groundwork for the problem. Do not just focus on solving for what they are asking. Think about the larger goal and are there other ways it can be achieved. This will play out in your favour. And obviously focus on the experimentation plan and metrics (including guardrails). Lastly be as critical of your deck as possible. So that you have answers to most edge cases and potential issues.

No real advice here because I ended my process here with them.

Got to that round at Uber and needed to tell the recruiter i couldn’t keep going with the process. Not sure about you, but for me it was at the start of the process after meeting with the hiring manager. No way I’m investing that much time upfront. If anything a session like this should come towards the end/last round as they narrow down to the cream of the crop.

  • Ive seen prompts given out recently and it really varies from team to team. But generally plan to spend a good amount of time and go in depth to define/structure the problem, and then make sure you think very thoroughly about how your solution works for all sides of the market (a level of concept or idea won’t cut it).
