H1B transfer at Facebook

Jul 27, 2020 145 Comments

Hi All, I recently accepted an offer at Facebook. They initiated the H1-B process almost immediately however the lawyers, Ogletree seem super slow. It has been two weeks since I submitted all my docs and they have not yet filed the LCA. How normal is this? Anything you all did that worked in expediting?

  • No need to rush either. Slow down while you can, once you’re in, it is going to be sprinting all the time. Make most of now.

  • I got BAL when I transferred to FB, took like 4 days. However, who knows how difficult time lines might be right now

Guys, after LCA certification how long did they take to file the h1 petition and what's was the timeline till the approval? I'm cutting quite close on my notice period and would like to have the approval before I give notice at my current job. Thanks

I'm hoping to join on 21 as well. The earlier the better. As you would get more time to ramp up before everyone goes on vacation in December. 😅

I agree that it is not worth taking the risk to join on receipt. I will wait for approval and make the move. BTW, I got the receipt. In Desi dominated companies, getting relieving in less than two weeks of notice is very unlikely (although there is no legal binding with at will employment in CA) and you don't want to strain the relations.

Update when you get the approval. We should chill out while we can, before the grinding begins :)
