We’ve been fighting to get better dev equipment for a while now and I think it’s finally happening. The windows machines were so slow that they are completely refreshing them. Macs apparently are just getting a bump in ram.

Which got me thinking...
What are the specs for everyone else?
Do your machines suck too?

Old dev specs:
* Windows (i5-7300u 2.5/3.1GHz 16GB DDR3)
* macOS (i7-8750H 2.2/4.1GHz 16GB DDR4, Radeon Pro 555X)

New dev specs:
* Windows (i7-8850H 2.6/4.3GHz, 32GB DDR4, NVIDIA GTX 1050)
* macOS (i7-8750H 2.2/4.1GHz, 32GB DDR4, Radeon Pro 555X)

      You pay devs 200 in total comp and you won't pay a couple thousand to increase productivity by an easy 20%?

      I honestly don’t know. I think it depends on the org.

      What do you use so many cores for?

      There's no such thing as too many cores when it's not you who pays for them :)

      While compiling and benchmarking I often hit 100% CPU usage

    Lol my work laptop is i5-7300U with 8GB ram and iGPU. And it's still nicer than most.

    Meanwhile my monitors are 3 and 8 years old respectively.
