Hi everbody, A friend has been contacted for a position at HPE that is "master"-level. How does this job level compare against senior/expert/distinguished/etc... From what he has been told, the Technicolor cal career ladder goes something like this: Senior->Expert->Master->Distinguished So he would have been ranked one level below distinguished. Is his understanding correct? Thanks in advance.#career #tech #level #hpe #hpehiring #hpecompensation
Master is definitely like a senior staff level. Distinguished is like principal architect level. I would think company atleast expects 10+ years minimum for master. What is your friend's YOE?
13-14 YOE
Thank you! So It seems that his experience was well-regarded by the recruiter at least.
Entry, intermediate, specialist, expert, master, fellow (for engineering there are a few steps between master and fellow). For the average employee non- management master is the most senior
You missed DT between master and fellow
What is "DT"? Something like Distinguished/Staff? And the Fellow is another category above all of them?
Correct! For fellow think equivalent of Having years (15+ in industry), patents, thought leaders etc. not likely their being brought in external as Fellow or Distinguished Technologist unless he/she has one hell of a track record. It’s same tier as a VP
BTW, I forgot to mention my friend is Product Manager (technical), not SWE. Does It affect the naming or the ranks of the job ladder levels?
Master level PM is a level below PM director.
