HR lies to employees. They are a poker face. when HR says they don’t know, they know. When HR says they cant, they can. When HR says they wont tell, they will tell.
I don't see all the drama and complaints about a HR. Just like you, they play the game to survive whether you like it or not.
We play games in politics, maybe. I don’t know what your company is like but we don’t screw other employees over to survive. HR? They have everything on everyone in the company and they will not hesitate to lie to you knowing that it would put you at risk or totally screw you over.
Far too much generalization! You just don't seem to see the bad fish in engineering and blame an entire other unit to be below to your standards. This is not regarding Cisco but a company in general. HR have been there far before techies and in various other organizations.
Not to say HR doesn't suck but you're hating the wrong people. Imagine this: in many developing countries, police officers are systematically underpaid and it is by design. Such a system forces them to accept bribes so they can have a decent living. This in turn creates distrust between the police and civilians. When everyone is too concern about the other party, guess who benefits? Not the police nor the citizens. HR is the police in this case.
Eh? Police is underpaid in usa as well, they don't take bribes as much as the developing country counterparts. I don't think this example holds.
Lol, they don't because they do not *need* to. The reward often isn't worth the punishment here. It's a different story in developing countries. I am not okay with bribery but the whole point of this analogy is to point out the fact that the system sucks that's why so many people in HR behave that way.

I dispute OP’s assertion based on my own experience.
"HR lies to employees" no sh*t... i am more bothered by the fact that HR is filled by a bunch of nasty women. no diversity.
Not to put down hard working women, but HR women have no real skills and basically shuffles paper.
Just a comment to do with HR...no gender or other bias... their role is to protect the company not the employee.
