1) For those who are joining a new company on H1b receipt, can you use that receipt to leave and then re-enter US ? 2) If yes, When you re-enter US what I94 date can the Immigration officer possibly provide ? he has no H1b approval to decide the timeline. 3) In case there is a valid H1b stamp with old company on passport , does that help reentry somehow in above case ? 4) let’s say the H1b transfer is successful. If you have visa stamped on passport via old company until 2020, there is no need to go for another stamping until then , is that correct ? Thanks
1 no 2 not applicable 3 possible 4 yes
1/2: So all the people joining on receipt know that they can NOT leave US in case of emergency ? Well they can , but they will not be able to re enter ? 3: How can it help ?
True.. Sucks.. It's basically prison like situation (although people will say I'm exaggerating).. I also thought a lot about it. That what if emergency happens. Also, there are no special rules as far as I know which allow you to re enter without approval if you had extenuating circumstances to leave.
U cannot reenter without valid visa but you canleave anytime..Even if u have approval of transfer u need to be stamped If u have old company visa.. dont kno your records would show that ur visa is transferrd. .. i dont know if this is possible or not.
As long as your old company has not revoked your h1b, you can re-enter using your original stamp. Only show the reciept at port of entry if specifically asked.
As far as I know many companies revoke your H1b as soon as you leave. It cannot be depended upon
True. What I suggested mainly applies in case of internal transfer within same employer, but it might be possible that your previous employer hasn't revoked the h1b yet. Look up reciept number on uscis to be sure.

I think you need to have a new stamp on your passport. Talk to your immigration paralegal.
Which question are you answering ? For 1-3, the visa is not approved yet
