Got a call from msft recruiter with an offer last week, but no details on TC except the level of hire. I tried to negotiate one level up and am being called back for an AA interview. What should I expect in the interview? Seems weird to go back and interview after being offered the job
What’s an AA interview?
AA or As-App or As-Appropriate round is the round that has a veto on the interview outcome. It’s typically taken by a manager of managers (Ex: Partner manager, Group manager) The final outcome in terms of level and giving a hire or no hire call rests with AA
That is weird. Would not expect. If u have other offers move on.
Re interviewing for higher level is pretty common, but agreed that it feels weird
Thanks for the feedback. Don't have another offer yet, so I'm going to show up for the interview and see how it goes
Don’t sweat it, this happens. The AA could want to feel you out for the level increase, that could be all it is.
This is a great sign: it means that they’re actually considering upleveling you! It also likely means that they think your tech skills are sufficient for level N+1, but want to ensure your soft skills are where they expect. Advice: just go in, answer as best you can, and hope for the best. Good luck!
What did they ask in the AA round .? Is it technical .?
That's weird. Which group?
