Hi,
I am currently working in an mnc have only 1.5 yrs exp and have recently got an offer from a startup(sharechat) and they are providing me a good hike. In my current company, I have worked as an analyst as well as a data engineer to some extent (Created the ETL graphs in abinitio and transformed the data as per requirement) and now, they are shifting me to some banking project which I don't want to work on (its non-technical). The startup is offering me the profile of a product analyst (SQL and excel). It would be great if anyone can suggest to me which one to choose. These are my concerns.
1. I have worked for 5 months as a data engineer but I am highly interested in this field(as it is technical) and look forward to building a career in this field.
2. I want to be in a technical field (I have done Dual degree BTech and MTech in CS). On the contrary, I feel that the profile of product analyst will be less technical and hence it would be difficult for me to switch to the profile of data engineer(technical) from thereon.
3. I have very little experience so it would be very difficult to get the job as a data engineer.
4. Some people are saying that analyst profiles are the building blocks and through analyst profiles, slowly and gradually we can start learning about data and be a data engineer or scientist. On contrary I am concerned that won't it change my profile from technical to non-technical and can I switch to a data engineer after this?
5. In short, I am not able to work as data engineer in either, so which would be a better option to opt for if i want to be a data engineer(work on creating etl graphs) as in mnc i have lot of time to study and in startup i won't have that.
Please suggest
