Hi Blind, curious to see where i stand/perhaps an insight why im not getting interviews post MBA. Stats: 31 M Bachelors -Food Science/Dietetics & Beverage Management MBA - Strategy and Operations Green belt LSS CAPM Working on Scrum Cert from edx to communicate with Scrum Master efficiently 2 years Ops Manager before undergrad (supply chain/logisitcs) 2 years District manager non profit post undergrad (logistics, operations) -33 direct reports, in charge of 4 programs 3 years Operations Manager local government (Logistics, Sustainabilty) -12 direct reports, 60,000 establishments 3 years Program manager volunteer undergrad outreach program (Education at risk youth) 3 years Operations manager scholarship program (Food festivals preperation and Operations) Got a role post grad as Ops Manager, but salary is stupidly low for MBA (55k, needed something to not move my area of living and still recruit for proper role). Want to transition from Ops into Strategy and/or non technical Project Manager in tech. (FAANG, Microsoft, Hp, Dell) would be ideal Anything stand out to people on the board ? Im thinking I might just change my undergrad to a business degree to see if i get phone calls as an experiment.
You can’t jump into most tech companies without at least some background in tech. Since you have logistics background, perhaps you can start with a role at one of Amazon’s distribution centers, then transfer internally to their tech group.
This is a great idea, I can give this a shot. Amazon will be at our Spring career fair
This precisely. Other tech companies don’t have as much in the way of logistics and they probably want a tech background.
Nice to see someone else from Florida here. If you need a referral to Google at some point in the future feel free to PM me.
Thank you I greatly appreciate it
DM me for Dell referral.
Thank you I greatly appreciate it
If you’re aiming to get into strategy from your current spot it is going to be difficult given that you will be up against folks w consulting background and most likely deep experience in strategy and tech. Business ops may be similar but a better shot as it’s more strat execution and project mgmt although depends on company/size. A few things that helped me in my career. Location, industry, function. Figure out what those 3 are for you in 5 years. Then try to get with least one of these correct in your next job... then work on the next 2. Example 1... move to the place you want to be and get the best job you can. Ex 2 find the job you want (that will hire you) and move anywhere in the world for it. For the latter... if targeting companies you really need to work on understanding the new role you want and optimizing your resume to show how your skills will be transferable. Network like no other and just try to learn what the roles are like. Right now if you can, don’t focus on TC. Carve out 2-4 years and focus on how you can match all 3 and how much exposure you can get to the business and company you are able to join.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but that MBA doesn’t add much material value to your resume or job expectations.
