I know levels.fyi but I am interested in the recent figures for L4 offers in the Bay area for Google. Do they easily match competing offers from say lyft/uber/dropbox? Yoe: 3 TC: 170
I got this in the bay area. 165k base 265k stock 25k signing 4 YOE
Did you have competing offers? Which company and what were the numbers? Do you have masters or phd?
Had a competing offer that was smaller by about 20k from a well respected public non FAANG company that Google beat. My situation was a bit unique. I was in a hurry to switch so I had to throw out every negotiation rule out the window. I gave Google the number they needed to reach which is pretty much a median L4 salary to get me to sign and they did. Had circumstances been different I could have negotiated for more. I have a masters
Also, any tips on negotiating will be helpful. Noob here
Don't give them the first number. Don't even tell them your competing offers unless you'd be happy if Google matched your highest competing offer. In general its best if Google gives you their number first.
Normally, you get 300k max as an L4. In rare cases they can give you 350k+
I see. How would a 300k offer look like? (Breakdown)
Base capped at 175k with 15% targeted bonus. The rest is stock, maybe plus a bit sign on. You can move things around as you like, but TC stays the same.
Hmmm do we still have head count for 4? Maybe in some teams
Didn't hc get refreshed at the start of the year? Guess google may be done growing then
Does Google not need L4 for it's cloud ?
One thing though - just check who gets L4 at Google now. Google policy for hiring now is to give L3 unless someone run a team/has more than 7yoe and architectural skills. The downleveling is crazy! Every month I see new L3 with 6yoe and solid skills...
What you get will also depend a lot on yoe.

I’m Sooo Happy about Biden signing TikTok ban bill today!!
I got 298K in Seattle in November, but I also had senior offers at multiple places (excluding signing obviously)
Thanks for replying! What was the offer breakdown? Mind sharing the company names of the senior offers? And the numbers? Your yoe?
