Everyone knows recession is coming, and has already started.

Will it be 2008 levels with everyone scrambling for a job?

Is this year a bust?

Can’t wait for companies to low ball and blame the environment

A recession? The amount of open jobs is at an all time high. Interest rates are about to raise to counter inflation. I don’t understand how we’re headed towards a recession…I guess I’m not everyone? I hope you know stocks heading into a bear market isn’t a recession.

Don’t engage, the op’s responses clearly show they are trolling hard. Your answers are spot on. From this op you’re not going to get anything but baseless gainsaying.

I don’t think regulations are coming (I think it’ll get pulled back due to inflation and looming potential of recession). The antitrust bill made it out of committee but I think it’ll die when it’s brought up for vote

I don’t think a recession is coming. Guess we’ll see how this comment ages. Huge tech bubble from covid forcing huge shift to e-commerce and stimulus unwinding back to reasonable levels is not a recession. We are at nearly max employment and poised to increase interest rates to rein in inflation. A bad market year where stocks still end up with like 30% growth since 2019 and almost everyone has a job who wants one is not a recession. GDP growth was likely close to 6% in Q4 2021. This really seems like a minor asset bubble correction in the scheme of things. There is still work to do to curb inflation, which is the part that can really affect most people. There being a set of people grumpy about asset slumps or corrections is not major cause for alarm.

My gut feeling is that it will be light recession as dot com bubble. Growth stocks will crash a lot, spacs will get wiped out. But economy as whole will not be impacted a lot.

I hope you know what recession is. We can’t be in recession for at least 2 quarters.

I think it depends on whether the Fed actually goes through with their plan to raise interest rates. If they hit 1% to 1.5% I think we will have a recession for sure. Then, of course, we already have massive inflation and the regime saber rattling at Russia. Who knows how bad things will get.

For inflation alone, yes, nothing to do with any recession, just winding down inflation. GDP growth will slow, but GDP won’t shrink (which is required for 2-3 quarters as the literal definition of recession).

I’m expecting a dovish statement. Given the turn in the bond market last week, I think the market is starting to agree with me. I also don’t think the Fed will be able to raise more than 1-1.5% without putting the economy under serious pressure. They might attempt a few token raises, but no way they can actually raise enough to crush inflation without also crushing the economy.
