Recognition for my work after leaving the company

I developed state of the art algorithm in the field I worked in my company. My manager was not ok with me writing the paper at the moment as that would slow down the project and we had strict deadline.
Anyway, I plan to leave company soon and I expect them to publish the paper at some point in time. Can I expect to get recognition for my work? I understand that you give all rights to everything you develop to Microsoft by contract but at the same time I would expect to be writen in as author of the paper as I created the algorithm.
Is there something I can do to help my chances? Its a big breakthrough in the field and I would want to take credit for what I did.

Anyway, I might be able to push more to startwriting a paper. You think thst would give me higher chances of that?
Alternatively, open source is "kinda" a way to claim authorship and recognition, but you team and mgr should be open about publishing IP.
Both ways take time...
If you don't want to lose it, stick around until it goes public in whatever shape you prefer.
Only if youโre 100% sure they will mention you as the creator if you do stay.
Write on your time after work. At least get it out for review asap - would writing take that long? Do you need to run experiments/benchmarks to show the impact of your algorithm or is that already done?
Why would your manager care as long as youโre meeting his deadline. Ignore the politics. Get your due, then get out. Donโt let them rob you. If you have an offer in the pipeline ask if they mind waiting.
