Recruiter rejected after recommending another role. How should I proceed?

Applied to a role at Zalando (fashion tech company) in Berlin. Non-Tech, Sr. Manager. I initially applied for a role that was somewhat more analytical. Really liked the team and the overall interview experience. Team Lead told me upfront she'd take me. Though at final call with the VP, at the last stage, mentioned he'd like to suggest another role as he thinks there is a better fit there - interviewed there and was dinged. Mind you, I didn't know about this another role or team etc. Recruiter has reached out to me to set up a feedback call. I would like to present my pov that I should be considered for the initial, actual role I interviewed and prepared for? Any suggestions how do I pitch this best? Zalando hires a lot of Indians for technical roles. Idk anything about nontech. If they truly didn’t want you, they probably wouldn’t set up the feedback call. But I would also not 100% expect good news either. In Germany, some companies have an internal quota that they must interview x number of candidates for a certain position before hiring someone. So, in the worst case, they may have already found someone for position #2 and just interviewed you to meet the quota (and they know you can’t say no). If you are not familiar with the environment in Germany, you can’t fight them on this point. So it could be any reason really. Good luck!

I have actually worked previously in Germany. How this came about was that I had applied for position #1 and after 6 interviews and cases, really chimed well with the team. Prospective Reporting Manager was very upfront about hiring me and commented I did well on the case. However, the 7th call was with her manager - VP - who also liked my profile but then said he'd rather I put me into another position in a different team. I was apprehensive given I had zero clue about the role/manager/and I gelled well with the earlier HM, but did not argue much. No further context was provided, I had the call with another team for position #2. Thought I did okay but got dinged. Now, the recruiter has reached out to me and arranged for feedback call + some link for internal pool. Not sure how viable this would be but I'd like to present my case hard given the same recruiter also was vocal and positive on call. What is the best approach to pitch my point on the call?

"When I talked with tech lead #1, they had a strong desire to bring me into their team. Is that role still available? I believe I'm a better fit for role1"
