Recently had two phone interviews with Apple. First one went well. Within 24 hrs recruiter scheduled second phone interview with hiring manager ( HM). HM interview/phone screen went so good that HM was totally happy ( at least that’s what I heard over phone) and ended with ‘almost’ direct words like — “You will be invited for onsite and expect rounds on bla bla” + lots of additional details on HM’s team/Apple’s culture etc. Sent a thank you note to recruiter as I was certain to get onsite. 5 days passed— radio silence 7 days passed and sent another mail— no reply. First time having such ‘weird’ experience! If HM was ‘acting’ that good then HM totally in a wrong industry. But other than that what’s my options beside moving on ? Little sad as the team was good/A shot with FAANG . Should I send another reminder/send a mail to HM by looking up HM’s official email ? any Apple employee , please chip in. TC : 240k Yoe : 8
You don’t want to work there. I did for 7.5 years. The luster is gone ..toxic environment. I was an HQ employee, can’t imagine what retail folks go through
Apple is closed for Thanksgiving this week. Lots of people took vacation last week. Maybe you'll hear back next week.
Not true . I was hired over the holiday , and was in Cupertino before Xmas
Your case is an exception.
If you really want the job, then you will do what you got to do. Keep poking the recruiter. Ping the HM if you have that person's contact.
The recruiter may be on vacation. FWIW, I’ve never seen a recruiter set an OOO message externally.
There could be many reasons. The only thing you can do is wait and keep interviewing others.
Typical Experience with Aaple. They have some inconsistencies with VP approval.
That is not a weird experience at Apple - that is the typical experience
You really don't have any other option than to move on. Its a sad reality but thats the way it is for now. Recruiter ghosting is a real big problem. I really laugh when recruiters yell about candidates ghosting and candidates trying to negotiate on multiple offers. They really need to look deep within themselves. It should be a very simple and mandatory step to just close the loop. It may not be a explicit call but an email or a message is a quick and easy way of closing the loop. In case recruiter is afraid to do so for any reason, it simply mean they are not satisfied that the candidate is a bad fit. I have heard from a couple of recruiters that they really 'fear' the follow-up questions after the rejection email/message. The point being missed here is to be transparent and upfront. If they can proper feedback/reasons to candidates, they may be able to improve on them and be better.
You could totally be invited to onsite right after the thanksgiving break. Or you have been ghosted. There are a hundred reasons for each result. Please stop analyzing, just move on.
Exact same thing happened to me last year, in my case they never got back to me ever, no next step, no rejection, nothing at all... Fortunately, I had something better lined up so never bothered to check in with them.
