Got an offer on Thursday from Microsoft, verbally. Caved into pressure from Recruiter and said yes verbally. Then within a few hours told him the numbers are too low. Asked for negotiation. The recutier replied saying that he will take it as a decline on my behalf for the offer since they cannot meet my expectations. Is this expected ? He was extremly rude and blunt. Later today he rejected my application saying I had missed the “hard” deadline for Microsoft Internal H1B filing deadline (which is supposedly today). Is this even true? #microsoft #lowballed #hr #badculture
You shouldn’t have said “yes” first. You were not lowballed since you accepted it.

Lol they have recruiters? Pretty much a resume black hole if you apply
A recruiter cold messaged me on linkedin asking for an on site. No phone screen, nothing. Literally just a linkedin message, few emails exchanging resume and confirming scheduling and next week I was in a 4 round interview. Didn’t get the job, barely knew what the role I was interview for was despite hours of online research.
all the MSFT recruiters I talked to were third party vendors - didn't even have MSFT email handle. and they still thought they were the hot shit and was sarcastic and condescending to me
Are you on opt?
That's terrible
And why this deadline now. Generally companies do it till March end with any problem

Even if you wouldn’t have said yes in the first place, the recruiter would not have met your compensation expectations. So he will be rejecting it anyway. If they wanted you, the recruiter will be ready to negotiate on numbers. Do not take it hard on you. It is possible that even if you hadn’t called him again to tell him numbers are low, the recruiter will simply go silent and never reply. Microsoft recruiters are well known for shitty shows since they outsource them a lot
In my case after telling me compensation numbers , she asked how does it sound? — I clearly mentioned it sounds inline with expectations but need 3 days to agree to it. What was the offer by the way ? What level and location ? They only move with competing offers.
Ohh, I see. My interview was taken by someone outsourced. Purely non technical phone call but asking standard questions about my research. It's been 6 weeks no response
