Hi all, i recently had a PM interview and got a feedback from the recruiter saying they want to interview more candidates before giving me a decision. The team likes me but the HM wasnt sure if i can join and immediate run the project. Recruiter said i should reach out if i get another offer, which will probably take a while since i wasnt actively looking. I really like the project so i want your advise. Here are three choices i had and would like help from you guys. TC: 180 TC 5yoe
Honey, he is not that much into you.
Tell me about it. So it is just if I should really show the HM my plan to take on the project or just move on.
Move on
Company?
Since you've reached so far you're probably just on the fence. Show more and openly your vision you have for the project etc. And gain their confidence!
You think so? Or would it be too desperate?
Pretty clear - forget the role , you didnât get it
I see. So you wonât suggest to try to impress?
No - the more you impress , it will put them off more. Itâs like a girl friend who doesnât like you, if you cry and beg to take you back she will hate you more , if the gf sees you with other woman and not caring about her , she will come back.
You are done. Look on the bright side and save your time to work on other interviews and offers.
I see
Just like dating, she doesnât want to be exclusive yet, in case a better guy comes along. Well, if I were you Iâd find another offer then tell her about it. If she suddenly wants you, enjoy the satisfaction in letting her know that itâs too late.
I know. I just donât know if I should bring up the HMâs confidence in me or just move on. If I didnât like the project, I would have just left it like this
While your hiring manager is important, his boss is just as important, if not more so. Your career in that company doesnât rely on him alone. If they have doubts, you can be stuck in the same position forever.
Then you should look for other companies too. Anytime you approach a company, you should always tell them you are actively interviewing and expecting offers from others at any time. Notice how they want to interview others but if you get other offers suddenly they want to know. Having other opportunities is leverage in your favor.
Thanks, I will start but not sure if I should do anything to fight for the position since I really like the project.
