I've been in the industry for 10 years and I have a recurring migraine since then. Is it related to our industry?

If you're in a similar situation, how are you taking care of yourself?

Oh.. that’s really bad. I suggest take a break from work like a week or two and go for a trip or some camping/trekking etc. physical activity helps too.

  • I get headaches since I was 10 or 11 years old and one of the doctors diagnosed as migraine. My current doctor tells me it’s stress headaches but I think it’s migraine as sumatriptan works for me atleast 50% of the time . When you say you started getting migraine since you joined work I tend to think it might be stress headaches. For me it’s clear that if I sit facing a window with lot of light, change in sleep routine, alcohol consumption (not always though) triggers headaches . I think I have migraine but I don’t care what it’s called by my doctor. I try to manage it with preventing the causes / triggers and if that fails I try to take OTC meds like aspirin or ibuprofen before it starts to get worse and if everything fails sleep and get over it. There were days when I was out for 2 or 3 days as sometimes nothing works and have to endure the pain

    • Yep, there is a whole world of kind people that suggests different remedies like yoga, meditation etc but most won’t work. My case isn’t severe in that my recurrence isn’t bad and suffering isn’t for days . But I have seen people suffer lot worse.

Do a sleep test. Usually it is related to poor sleep quality

For migraines I've been advised to take magnesium and B2 - I only tried magnesium but it helped a lot.

    Other basic advice:
Sleep on the same schedule every day
    Cut out caffeine
Avoid bright light or florescent lights if that's a trigger

Yoga, meditation, etc. - this will definitely help with stress and muscle tension if those are contributors but migraine is a complex chronic brain condition - you can't simply breath it away.
