CEO and leadership kept a consistent message that there would be no layoffs after slashing multiple benefits and time off under the excuse that those were necessary in order to retain the talent they most certainly would not get rid of Fast forward to last week and some quiet layoffs started taking place while people, including on Blind, indicated it's a talent clean up, low performers problem etc Fast forward to this morning, I get a 5min call from my manager telling me that Reddit has cut my role, I'm not the only one, it's not performance related etc., and then HR spends the next 15 minutes laying out the logistics (incl severance), but access to my computer got cut off before the call even ended According to Reddit blind, there hasn't been any emails from leadership yet Reddit is trying to escape the headlines about doing layoffs and trying their best to frame it as a yearly cycle of talent review - the reality is that the company has barely made any progress in recent years and the IPO seems so far away given reductions in valuation These layoffs are very real and indicative of problems at Reddit, but the lack of acknowledgement is making me feel invisible and alone
sounds like Zoom too lol
I want to crack a joke about the type of people that run Reddit, but last time I got banned for it, so you can try to infer the joke form my comment as it is.
Crack heads?
what was your severance like, if you don't mind sharing?
I was told 10 weeks but they are not sending out the detailed email until Friday
@kasz84 I'm sorry, and feel for you. Wish you the best.
I had a pretty bad one with their ML experimentation team
There were a lot of really stupid “gotcha” type questions, and I felt one of the interviewers was just trying to bully and nitpick. The coding portion was by far the easiest interview I’ve ever taken, and it really seems like this team spent very little effort in developing their interview process. It was easy and I apparently did alright, but it felt very mean-spirited.
Even Reddit hired like crazy? 🤔🤔
Sorry to hear, we aren’t hiring much but if you see something of interest I can refer
Harry Potter also dealing with the same problem 🤣
Yarupa nee 😉
I am really sorry for what happened to you! I think all companies are abusing the layoff climate when they don’t need to, they just treating it like a business
Same problems here.
Reddit can’t afford to upset Doreen.
further comment on what 🥕🛒🛍️🏬🏪 said :) i've seen multiple reports on r/instacart that they are laying off tons of in store shoppers. No idea on the corporate side.
