I have 2 offers : Microsoft Azure, Redmond, USA SDE 2, L62, Okta, Toronto, Canada Staff Software Engineer, Where can I have more career growth potential? Pros/Cons of living in Toronto vs Redmond. Is it wise to work in Toronto for 4 years, get the citizenship and move to US? What are the pros/cons of this Canadian citizenship route? 9 yoe
Microsoft. Clear choice. Always choose greedy algorithm with respect to US immigration. Don't plan 4 years ahead, you don't know what the laws will be then. Just move to Azure Redmond right now and gain one of the best credentials you can have globally!
It hurts when Microsoft pays only 40k in shares which has grown to 80k now. Even if I get promoted I may get another 80k extra. But then, I'll still be getting less that what Okta is offering right?
Yup. That money is plenty for the state. + way better weather.
Toronto, many Indians here are contemplating a move to Canada. Usually the difference in money is the obstacle, but you already have a good offer. Once you come to US, settle down, have kids, another move becomes less likely. You’ll be at the mercy of changing immigration laws, no stability. Layoffs are more common in US than India, it will be a hanging dagger at all times Edit: to non Indian passport holders - US all the way
My poll is not visible. Anyone able to see & vote? I edited the post in blind web and now I don't see the poll in the app.
Toronto. Okta. No question. Microsoft will probably buy okta at some point.
Thank you! I too feel Okta is in a great track.
Redmond of course. There’s also G and FB nearby for your future growth.
Is it 80k per year? Thats good then
Go to Toronto, get your PR in Canada. The pay is much better too, stay there, collect your vest, get your PR then apply for a US company.
What’s your yoe? I would go for okta

I would suggest Toronto. The US is brutal on getting Indians green cards. If you move to Toronto you will have a nice life. The people there are really welcoming :)
Canada route seems to be a better option, both TC and potential to work in the US later. The cons is Toronto is cold af.
Thanks!
