I'm not doing a shotgun approach and I want these two companies for a very different reason. My story: I have 12 years of experience and I want to transition from my start-up to MS or Google as an engineer manager. My management experience (4 years) is limited to my start-up which I managed 10 direct reports of engineers, designers and QAs. The start-up was successful-ish and it generated 1.8 M last year in a company of 30 people and it recently raised money from VC. The reason I'm leaving is complicated. DM me to discuss if you want to know more. Looking for Seattle location. Why #Google? I have submitted my application and talked to the recruiter already. She created my profile and she implied my chance is significantly hire if I get a referral (even if it is a school mate on LinkedIn). Google is my top choice by far and would love to get there eventually. Not sure I can get in as a manager. Why #Microsoft? I have been developing on Microsoft stack for 12 years! The start-up was Saas on Azure. It feels like I would be a good match with MS as an engineering manager. I have not been able to get a hold of any recruiter there. YOE: 12 TOC 150K

You can get as a manager no problem. Just prepare accordingly.
Thanks, I read on blind that lots of people similar situation, get offer as ic in Google! Any advise what to prepare? I have prepared myself for behavioral and system design so far. Is there coding round? Do I have to start leetcode?
There is coding, but it's easier than for IC. System design is pretty chill, too. Source: my friend recently joined as a manager.
