Currently rising senior interning at Tableau, but have been following Plaid for a while and am excited they now have a new grad role. I would also appreciate any information on what the interview process is like and any current feelings on life there right now. Thanks!
There are a few threads about the culture and business. Just search for Plaid and order by recent. It’s a top notch place to work. We will likely do full university recruiting this Fall. The university recruiter’s name is Genevieve. Look her up on LinkedIn; email schema is first letter of first name + last name _at_ plaid.com Interview process is two phone screens + onsite. Less architecture for new grads. Practical interviews in the environment/language of choice. We do a values interview — looking for pragmatic team players who are high impact and ownership. Not for people who love “hard problems” or follow “cool tech trends.” There are some returning interns and new grads coming in; you can probably connect with them with some basic Li stalking if you want to learn more. Good luck.
Hey is it possible that you can expand upon "We do a values interview — looking for pragmatic team players who are high impact and ownership. Not for people who love “hard problems” or follow “cool tech trends.”"
Just that, although we have plenty of “hard problems” we need to solve along the way, as a team we really emphasize impactful work. That means teaching eng how to identify work that can drive business/user impact, focusing on 80/20 solutions when possible, and not focusing on technology as a driver of what to work on. As we grow/scale we will continue to encounter harder and harder technical problems that require great engineering (see recent blog posts). We just don’t go look for that when we don’t need to. As for values, we ask people about past work, school, and projects to identify folks who are impact focused, low ego, and self-aware.
