Hey Blind!

I wanted to reach out and help those who are looking to get into the medical field. Roche / Genentech are hiring like crazy right now. There is a lot of growth because of COVID testing. It's a great company that is doing a lot of good in the world during this pandemic.

Feel free to ask questions or DM if you find a position online you would like a referral for.

I took a similar tack, except got hired as DS outright at the no-name, as my PhD was more related.

    • Go to ML conferences. Forget the talks, well go to some but only enough to make conversation. Go to all social networking events. Talk to recruiters. Also, Apple you got brand name... Will be easier to get attention

  • Please DON'T JOIN pharma and biotech. TC suck balls at most 50% of what you can get compared to FAANG, Microsoft included.

I say this as one who have PhD in Chemistry doing ML work at tech now. You fuckers didn't even interview me when I graduate, so I pivoted to ML. Microsoft welcome me with open arms and offer 2-3x more than what pharma/biotech could.

Good luck filling your positions. CS heads stay away from them. Other STEM grads, leetcode and join tech. Think bigger, you can do better than Roche.

I actually was approached by a recruiter for a software automation engineer position at Roche. The one main reason I turned it down was that they wanted to start off as a contractor first. I am only looking for permanent positions, so I had to pass.
