Google offer as a level 1 PM, and based off pay scale it seems like a demotion. And offer TC is like... 20% down, though I am a high performer at my current company (Salesforce). I have a refresher/equity history to prove it, and on track for a second promotion in 12 months. Level-wise, they said my hiring feedback was excellent but they want me to show at least a few successes before "leveling up." Meanwhile, I feel like I'm above even the next level and my LinkedIn/resume proves it. Compensation wise, I thought my TC would go up at least 20% moving to *~ Google ~* but taking a 20% pay hit is not worth it just to have a name on my resume. However, I am really interested in the team since it seems like an excellent opportunity for career growth.. so I might just show them what I make now and hope they'll at least give me 10%. With a low YOE, as a program manager do I just have to just build up a few more years on my record before another company comes in with an actual competitive offer? TC: 230 YOE: 2
You work at salesforce you can’t be picky. This is a definite level up in your career, I would switch regardless of 20% drop in TC
Opposite. He works at Salesforce, so he can be picky. I personally love it at Salesforce.
Really? I have never met an engineer at salesforce who wasn’t trying to join a FAANG
Why mess with something that's going great? You have 0 guarantee that you'll get a supportive boss or an area to shine when moving, plus you start on the wrong foot. When job changing you normally go higher: level and comp.
Based on what others mentioned, Google intentionally lowballs because they know they are a name brand So you‘re paying for the name brand with 20% of.your TC
Classic Google lowball
Brand doesnt pay bills
The point of this particular brand is to get discount on labor.
This is why so many people work at Apple
What will get by this move. Screw them. Salesforce is as good as Google. By working in something good, you will get a higher pay in the end. You are getting that right now.
Lmao good joke saying salesforce is as good as google, they are more like tier 3 or 4
You can laugh all you want. Google is overrated and the type of people getting now is “awesome”
Typical google recruiter. They always try to hire you at lower level
Dude you keep making more money and whenever they want to offer more then you consider. Life is short for giving up TC :)
Don't let Google spoil what you've got. You seem to be having a good time at Salesforce which is also an amazing company. When Google shows you they value you enough to offer what you deserve, you can move if it's what you want at the time. Don't let then screw you with brand name.
Salesforce is not an amazing company. It’s like tier 3 or tier 4. Google will open a lot more doors down the line than salesforce, that’s for sure
Fuck Apple. I worked in Apple for 5 years and moved to Salesforce. I am living the life now. Maybe I am missing those yearly refreshes here, but it’s 1000% better than the filthy Apple.
